Best Vacations With A Dog – I like to sit down with a calendar in January and plan all the trips for the coming year. It’s cold and dark outside, and curling up with a laptop and planning some adventure feels so satisfying.
Although we’ve put a hiatus on our big international travels during the pandemic, we’re loving getting to know the Seattle area and its wonderful (and dog-friendly!) weekend escapes. After spending ten years in NYC and Chicago, it was fun to come back and rediscover old favorites and see all the new innovative glampsites, boutique hotels and unique Airbnbs that have popped up here. And most of all, I love seeing how many dog-friendly options they have for your stay. I was so happy when we were able to take Dave and Lizzie on our vacation.

Would love to plan a trip to this beautiful lodge and location near beautiful Friday Harbor that has several “dog friendly” cabins. How awesome does this picture look? Plus, we love the amazing hikes and views of San Juan Island. The details of the dogs are given here under the details of each office.
Take your best friend for wine country magic at one of our personal favorite resorts in the area. We have been going on weekends at Sagecliffe since 2015 and it never disappoints. Hiking, wine tasting and stunning views of the Columbia River Gorge make it an absolute dream. Here are the details about their puppy policy.
Captain Whidbey is at the top of my vacation “list” for 2022. With recent features in publications like Vogue, this beautifully restored historic hotel is popping up all over my Instagram feed and I’ve been trying to travel. . Click through the reservation system to see which cabins (like the Filson Cabin!) are labeled as pet-friendly.
Walla Walla is one of the top wine producing regions in the country with over 120 wineries, so I can’t think of a better place to spend a few days. I’ve bookmarked this modern city hotel for a while because it looks like the perfect basecamp for a weekend in the snow or a weekend of wine. Or both! A limited number of pet-friendly rooms are available upon request. Details are given here.
Pet Friendly Vacation Spots Across America That Your Dog Will Love
We’ve blogged in the past about how much we love tiny house getaways, and we’re looking for a new Skagit Valley location. They are the perfect way to escape into nature when it is warm and dry. And how amazing is that signature bed window? Dogs are allowed for a fee – details here.
Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with the waterfront fire pits. Although this Oregon Coast home is a short drive from Seattle, the beautiful modern interior and stunning views of the Pacific make it worth the drive. Dogs under £25 welcome in selected rooms – more details here.
My New Year’s resolution was to stay at a dream resort in St. Louis. Edward as soon as possible – it’s easy because it’s only half an hour’s drive outside the city. This historic seminary has been restored to a lavish and luxurious retreat situated on 326 acres directly on Lake Washington. Plus, unwind after a day at Cedar + Elm with a visit to their spa or Pacific Northwest cuisine. Here are the details of the dog.
We spent a perfect weekend at the Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 – and blogged about it here – and the memories take me back to the first month of lockdown. The 570 square meter forward design units offer amenities such as private terraces, fireplaces and soaking tubs. Plus, they’re great campsites for exploring Vashon Island’s beautiful beaches and hikes. Nine of the sixteen accommodations are dog-friendly, select “Pet Fees” on the booking portal – more details here.

I’ve long dreamed of living with one of those Insta-famous A-frames, and I’m determined to make it happen this year. Ty River Cabin Company offers three beautiful A-frame cabins located in the heart of Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie, and all three accept pets for a fee. Word of the wise – subscribers are tricky because each of their amazing Insta posts get thousands of likes. Pet information is listed below each cabin description.
We had a lovely Easter weekend in Semiamoo in 2019 and I look forward to returning to the beautiful scenery and remote beaches Lizzie loves to explore. Just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, this cozy resort is the perfect base camp for great hiking and northern Washington’s stunning coastal scenery. They are very dog-friendly and welcome children with bowls, beds and (at least between our visits) souvenirs. Here are the details of the dog.
Step back in time with a stay in a vintage trailer in Dayton, Oregon. The best part? They are located in the Willamette wine country. The trailer comes fully stocked with coffee, luxurious linens and beautiful bathrobes. Puppies are allowed in the Shasta trailer and they provide more details here.
Anacortes is one of my favorite tours of the city. Drive an hour and a half north of Seattle to find this quaint urban beach town filled with cute shops, delicious cafes and water views. (Watermark Book Co. is one of my favorite Washington bookstores!) And we love the iconic downtown hotel, The Majestic, for its cozy rooms and beautiful rooftop bar. Here is their detailed policy.

I love a place to relax and Winthrop’s Rolling Huts certainly delivers. These tiny homes were designed by Seattle’s Olson Kundig Architects as a modern alternative to camping. Go hiking or just relax and soak in the beautiful mountain views. Their Hotels.com listing has a pet policy listed in the “Fees and Policies” section.
This luxury resort on Hood Canal claims they’ve been hosting baby showers since 1913, and with a full menu of Fido-friendly amenities, we believe it. Create memories by renting a kayak, hiking or simply enjoying the scenery. Read dog tips here.
Well, it’s not technically available yet, but we’ve signed up to receive pre-order alerts for the two awesome camping trailers that just launched in Olympic National Park. They offer creature comforts beyond standard camping while providing a quiet and sustainable way to get into nature. Two locations are expected to open soon in Washington, and we’re crossing our fingers that we can get reservations this summer. Their pet policy is in the FAQ section here.
I fell in love with the beautiful new Water’s Edge Suites at the historic Orcas Island Inn, with private balconies overlooking the bay. I’m curled up there with a book. I think the only thing that can pull me away is the amazing menu at New Leaf Cafe. Well-behaved dogs welcome in rooms, suites and studios – details here.

If you follow us on Instagram, you know we make quick trips to Seabrook. This picture-perfect beach town on Washington’s stunning Pacific coast has everything I look for in a vacation spot, charming shops and restaurants, plenty of rental options, and beautiful beaches. Puppies are welcome at many rentals.
With beautiful views of Lake Washington, Woodmark offers a delightful escape just a quick drive outside of downtown Seattle. Explore Kirkland’s shops and restaurants, take a dip or relax at the spa. Book the Woof, Wag and Worry Less package for your baby’s bowl, bed and special treats. Here are more of their Fido prints.
If you haven’t heard of Tentrr yet, you’re missing out. We stayed with them twice (in Vermont and on a trip to Maine that we blogged about here) and each trip was wonderful. Basically, they set up luxury safari tents in special private areas like this beautiful fruit farm near Meade, Washington. You can also choose to pay a little extra to have one of their fruit pies delivered to your room or some of their farm fresh eggs for a delicious al fresco scramble. More about Tentrr’s children’s policy here.
Admittedly, Idaho is a bit of a drive from Seattle, but we have to drive a lot to be in this convenient state. Also the little details like the sauna on site and antique coffee grinder really melt my heart. Pets are allowed, but judging by the entrance stairs, you’ll have to evaluate whether this is your fun vacation.
