Justin Trails Resort in Sparta, WI – This dog-friendly area has more than 200 acres of open space and woods full of adventure opportunities. You and your kids can enjoy camping on site, or opt for a more comfortable stay in a cabin, with up to 3 pets (for a small fee per night). This is a great place to enjoy skiing. Or take a snowmobile ride with your pet for some snowmobile fun! There are also snowboarding and cross-country skiing options, and for kids (and kids at heart!) sledding hills and tubing hills.

Indian Lake County Park in Cross Plains, WI – This park has a beautiful 442-acre lake with trails that wind around it leading to an incredible historic church from 1857. If you want to go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing, this is the place to be. If you’re looking to ski, look for trails that are marked as pet-friendly and trails that aren’t specifically designed for x-country skiers. You’ll find plenty of opportunities to snap photos of your dog enjoying the snowy conditions anywhere in the beautiful scenery along the way. There is also a pet-friendly exercise area near the small boat launch on the west side of the lake.

Interstate Park in St. Croix Falls, WI – Although this area does not have official ski trails, the area has several hiking options. Please keep in mind that some areas may not be off limits to your pets, so always check the signs and keep them in accordance with Wisconsin State Park Laws. Winter recreation trails are for snowshoeing, winter hiking, cross-country skiing and pet-friendly activities such as hiking, trail running, and cross-country skiing. Note that Skyline Trail does not allow pets if they are groomed. If you want a longer vacation with your pet, the area is open to tent, trailer, and RV camping.

While you may be new to the concept of skiwear, it is growing in popularity as a sport in the Midwest! In fact, there are many ski competitions held each year especially in Wisconsin.
