There are many unmarked turns on this road. If you are unfamiliar with the park it may be best to stick to the main road. It’s also waterproof and waterproof, so make sure you pack as much water as you and your dog need.
The Geology Tour Road is considered one of the easiest 4×4 roads in Joshua Tree. You can even see it on foot! It’s 11.7 kilometers long, so you get a great taste of the desert and the surrounding forest.

This trail starts at the visitor center. If you’re planning a visit, it’s always a good idea to arrive early and talk to the staff. They will be able to update road conditions and if there are any hazards to watch out for. This is considered a challenging song, so be prepared and use caution.
Stirrup Tank Road is another quick and easy dog walk. At a total length of 1.5 miles, it is popular with both hikers and mountaineers.

Medium length, single track that gives you great views of the surrounding desert. As beautiful as it is, there is nothing unique about this track.
This method has both upper and lower parts. The length of the trip will depend on how much you decide to do. It’s 4×4 access only, so if possible, I recommend driving to the track and exploring your favorite spots on foot.
This is the best way to get the full experience as there is a steep climb to the end of the track at Eureka Peak. From the top, you’ll be able to see everything from Palm Springs to Morongo Basin.
Plan Your Trip To Joshua Tree National Park
Short and easy route connecting Park Boulevard and Queen Valley Road. You will see many Joshua trees and you will be able to see the Forbidden Ranges in the distance.
The road itself is sandy and not as mixed as other roads. If it’s a windy day, I definitely recommend bringing glasses to protect your eyes.
If you’re looking for off-leash hikes or dog-friendly trails, you’ll need to venture outside the park. Don’t worry though! You will still see beautiful landscapes and see unique views.
Hiking is a great experience. You will be able to explore the desert area with your pup, before reaching the 30 high cross built on the hill. After this there is a view of the big city. At night, both the cross and the city are lit up, making for a stunning sight.

This trail is located in Palm Desert, about 40 minutes from Joshua Tree. It is 2.4 miles long and steep, ending at a cross on top of a hill. This is a long journey, but for now, it’s a much more limited experience than Joshua Tree.
This short 1.5 mile walk is puppy friendly. It’s located in downtown Palm Springs, so it’s a great option if you’re staying in the area and want to grab something quick before heading home.
It’s a steep climb with amazing views – including Bob Hope’s future home! The road is so close to the property that you can see it in the yard. If you prefer a more natural view, you will find many interesting animals and flowers and spectacular views of the valleys.
Located just 15 miles from Palm Springs, Whitewater Preserve is a dog-friendly paradise. You can see the valley from the top of the hill or enjoy a quick dip in the river, depending on your choice of pup.
