When you come to Acadia, the best way to find your way is by taking the Park Loop Road. Although only 43 miles, plan on taking two to three hours with stops to take in the scenery and maybe a short walk to some attractions.

45 miles of wagon road built between 1913 and 1940 through the heart of Acadia. Their construction was done by John D. Rockefeller, Jr. It was paid for and controlled so that he and others could enjoy the park on a non-motorized road. Originally designed to accommodate horses and carriages, the trail is now popular with walkers and cyclists.

You can use the Schoodic Loop Road, which is open year-round and runs approximately 6.5 miles one way from the campground.
