Although we’re taking a break from our extensive international travel during the pandemic, we’re looking forward to experiencing the Seattle area and all its wonders (and dogs are welcome!) this weekend. Honestly, Coho Oceanfront stole my heart with those fire pits in the ocean. Although the Oregon Coast hotel is a bit far from Seattle, its sleek-modern interior and views of the Pacific Ocean are worth the drive. Dogs under 25 pounds are welcome in selected rooms – more information here.
My New Year’s resolution is to book a stay at the Dream Lodge in St Petersburg. Edward as soon as possible – which should be easy since it’s only half an hour away. This historic seminary has been restored in a beautiful beautiful setting on 326 acres of land on Lake Washington. We had a great weekend at The Lodges on Vashon in January 2020 – and posted about it here – and the memories kept me going through the first months of lockdown. These 570 square foot units have been designed forward and offer amenities such as private patios, fireplaces and hot tubs. We had a wonderful Easter weekend at Semiahmoo in 2019 and I was looking forward to getting back to explore the beautiful views and remote beaches that Lizzie loves to explore. Just a stone’s throw from the Canadian border, the resort is a great base for hiking and taking in the spectacular views of Washington’s north coast. They are very dog friendly and children are welcome with their own bowls, beds and (at least during our visit) souvenirs. Dog information here.

I was pleasantly surprised by the beautiful new Water’s Edge rooms at this historic Orcas Island hotel, which offer private balconies overlooking the bay. If you haven’t heard of Tentrr, you’re missing out. We have stayed with them twice (in Vermont and during a trip to Maine that we posted here) and each trip was great. In fact, they set up luxury safari tents on special plots around this beautiful fruit farm near Meade, Washington. Admittedly, Idaho is a short drive from Seattle, but we would go any distance to live here. It’s the little touches like the indoor sauna and vintage coffee machine that make my heart melt. Pets are allowed, although subject to ladder access, so you need to consider whether this is a fun activity for your pet.
