Dog Friendly Resorts Palm Springs

Dog Friendly Resorts Palm Springs – Palm Springs, California is located approximately 100 miles east of Los Angeles in the Coachella Valley region of the Sonoran Desert. As a popular town for many years, Palm Springs is known for its natural hot springs, hotels, restaurants, golf courses, sunny weather, and dog friendliness.

Downtown Palm Springs is constantly changing, with new shops, restaurants, hotels and neighborhoods, like the development north of the Uptown Design District. The annual Coachella and Stagecoach festivals bring attention to the desert cities, and the Palm Springs International Film Festival in January attracts big names and throngs of tourists.

“Greater Palm Springs” includes eight cities beyond Palm Springs: Desert Hot Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Palm Desert, Indian Wells, LaQuinta, Indio, and Coachella. Tourism makes a major contribution to the local economy. I recommend staying in Palm Springs and exploring these other cities by car. Palm Desert has outdoor shopping and Indio/Coachella can be great for photo ops or if you’re going to a festival (without your dog).

Dog Friendly The Three Fifty Hotel Palm Springs

We have visited many dog friendly places and when I say Palm Springs is the most dog friendly city we have been to – I mean it! It’s hard to explain, but we were welcome no matter where we went with Ruby and I hope that comes through in this book.

The weather in Palm Springs is good all year round, but there is one time that is considered best to visit – winter and early spring. Palm Springs feels very special during the winter months, which happen in November – January, because when the rest of the country experiences cold and snow, Palm Springs puts on a show with sunshine and 65-75 degrees .

If you are visiting Palm Springs with your dog, I would not recommend visiting any time after March. Unless your only plan is to stay by the pool for the duration of your trip. Summer temperatures are around 100℉ and can reach up to 115℉, with less than 10% humidity.

Staying in Palm Springs and the surrounding desert is a wonderful place and one of my favorite things to do in this city. I’m a big fan of modern and medieval architecture, so I’d be in heaven wandering around in hotel and apartment rentals in the area.

If you’re planning to stay in downtown Palm Springs, there are several options for dog-friendly hotels on Palm Canyon Dr. and the surrounding areas and Indian Canyon Dr. convenient to walk to shops and restaurants. Check out FIKA Palm Springs, Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs, Colony Palms Hotel & Bungalows, and Saguaro Palm Springs.

If renting a house is your favorite place to sleep – we always love kitchens and access to the outdoors – then head over to AirBnB or VRBO and turn on the pet feature. Here are some of the rentals I have saved on my wish list. The photos below were taken while we were at Mesa Tavira in Joshua Tree over the weekend. You can find our entire home tour on Instagram.

Palm Springs has always been a dog friendly town and with 354 days of sunshine each year there are plenty of things to do that will welcome your dog with open arms.

Boozehounds Palm Springs was started by three friends for one simple reason… they loved dogs and dreamed of having a place where people could take their kids, enjoy a restaurant or a delicious meal, and hang out. This is the most dog friendly restaurant we’ve been to for two reasons: 1) the dog menu is top notch and offers fresh protein allergy friendly food, and 2) dogs get to eat inside her atrium, which is huge. when visiting during the winter months. We loved eating here for brunch and you can see the inside of our trip on Instagram.

4 Paws coffee Co., Ltd. and other dog-friendly places in Palm Springs you should check out. We were greeted with open arms as soon as we walked in and the cafe has dog decorations and merchandise. We enjoyed our cake and coffee inside the cafe with Rue when she was spoiled by the dog cup. Shopping at the cafe supports their efforts to give back to the local park and further their mission of bringing great coffee, food, and connection to the Palm Springs community.

Moorten Botanic Garden is a private sanctuary designed to share the beauty and diversity of desert plants with all who visit. Desert trees, plants and cacti come from all over the world and range in size from small to large. It is home to the world’s first dog park – my favorite part of the garden – and allows dogs to interact throughout the garden.

The parking lot is on the corner across the street from S Palm Canyon Dr. Admission is $5 per person and dogs are free. This small garden can be explored within 30 minutes of a leisurely stroll around the area. We spent a lot of time here because I was busy taking pictures in the cactarium. If you visit during the week, you should be lucky to get smaller crowds.

Something unique about Southern California is all the wind turbine fields. They have an official visit to Palm Springs to take care of them, but I don’t know if they allow dogs. We decided to try it ourselves.

For the view below, go to Indian Canyon Drive and Garnett on I-10. If you are driving north on Indian Canyon, turn left on Garnett and go about 1/4 mile and you will find another parking spot. There is very little traffic in the area, so as long as you are not blocking the main road you should be prepared to park wherever you want to shoot.

I recommend we go at sunset. The desert really shines at sunset with a cotton candy sky, but the sun rises behind the mountains quickly so make sure you arrive before sunset. There is a fence around the wind turbine, but it is not really visible behind the hill in the shade and the trees in the area. You have to accept it.

Although there are restrictions when it comes to visiting Joshua Tree National Park with your furry friend, there are several dog-friendly things that allow you to experience the diversity of the park while visiting with your dog. We have traveled with Ruby many times and have combined the best Joshua Tree tours with half day or full day tours of the park.

The mid-century area is a treasure trove for lovers of mid-century modern architecture. Almost all of the homes in Indian Canyon were built with large glass windows, green balconies, and plenty of lake views. Because of this it has a long history of architecture and wonders, countless mountains.

Uptown Palm Springs: Exploring The Trendy Design District

You may have seen some of these homes on Instagram with their beautiful landscaping and beautiful exterior doors. The best way to enjoy these buildings is to park and walk the streets. I especially liked the houses in South Yosemite and South Camino Real.

The dog-friendly feeling is definitely happening in downtown Palm Springs. It’s a beautiful city full of unique shops, restaurants, and art galleries. Lots of people came up to us and told us how they thought Ruby was well behaved and the shop owner was pressuring Ruby to give her pets, water and food. If you follow us on social media then you know that Ruby has a fear of strangers, but she was quick to force the pets to be surrendered.

There is plenty to do in town and the main draws are Palm Canyon Drive and Indian Canyon Drive. I recommend making a link and entering anything that looks interesting. South Palm Canyon is a bit kitschy and the northern area is more modern with its recent revival as the Uptown Design District.

Other stores that were on my list to check out were: Ibis Women’s Store, Just Fabulous for Palm Springs souvenirs, Peepas, Out West Trading Co, Covet for timeless jewelry, and Destination PSP. There was mid-century home decor on the PSP site.

The 12 Best Hotels In Palm Springs (updated September 2021)

The restaurants we enjoyed in town were Boozehounds, 1501 Uptown Gastropub, Ice Cream and Shop(pe), and Tac/Quila (get a churro ice cream sandwich).

Apart from shopping and dining around the city, you can also see unique art exhibitions scattered throughout the area, such as the PS ❤️ You and Marilyn Monroe sculptures shown above. If you have time you can use this guide to find them all.

As you may already know, Palm Springs has a thriving art scene, and beyond the big and obscure sculptures there are also several art galleries in the city. I really like the Palm greeting
