There’s no doubting who’s behind The Pheasant Inn – Taffy’s name is on top of the bar and the outside terrace is called “Taffy’s Terrace”. Fortunately, Taffy is also very fond of the two-legged kind.

Popular with walkers and their canine companions, the Woolpack Inn is beautifully situated at the foot of Hardknott Pass, at the top of the Eskdale Valley.
With wood-fired pizzas, as well as everything from Cumbrian tatty pot to vegan massaman curry and a great beer selection, this historic inn in a less-visited part of the Lakes is well worth the effort to get there.
