After a quick tasting we bought a bottle of rosé – highly recommended! 8 Chains hosts live music most weekends and allows dogs on leashes on its large patio. The best part about this winery is that pups are allowed off-leash in their dog park. This fenced grass area is for dogs and their owners only. Dogs can’t be without their humans and no human can be without a dog. There are plenty of tables and chairs under the shade where customers can enjoy a bottle of wine and a picnic while their dog plays on the lawn.

Dogs taking bottles of wine, paw prints strewn across the menus, and even a dog on staff – there’s no doubt that this brewery is dog-friendly. Leashed dogs are welcome in and out of this winery. We recommend trying BowHaus White or Cabernet Sauvignon.
A quick Google search for dog-friendly restaurants in Northern Virginia might turn up Chrysalis Vineyards. We found out about this cellar through friends who know the owner. What we love most about this winery is the peaceful and relaxing atmosphere, stunning views, reasonably priced and very tasty wines, and plenty of outdoor seating. Don’t hate yourself when you go somewhere and within minutes you feel like you know everything about the table next to you – not at Chrysalis! We were able to stand up, enjoy wine and snacks, and feel like we had the winery to ourselves. The marines took a breather and cooled off in the shade. Dogs must be sterilized at Chrysalis at all times. As the tasting room is home to Locksley Farmstead Cream Cheese, dogs are not allowed in the tasting room. However, there is a small tasting bar outside where dogs can accompany their parents. We recommend trying Albariño Verde 2017 or Sara Patio 2016 white wine.
And honorable mention goes to… Migdal Rock Winery! We wanted to include Stone Tower because this winery is amazing and the wines are delicious. Dogs are welcome in the Harvest Barn tasting room and all public areas of the property. Dogs must be on a leash at all times. If you decide to go to the Stone Tower with your dog, get there early enough to secure a seat as it gets very crowded. This popular winery has plenty of outdoor seating, but it will fill up quickly. The navy was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd and the number of people passing by our table. Malbec Wild Boar 2016 and Estate Sauvignon Blanc 2017 are expensive but worth trying.
