Best Dog Friendly Wineries In Paso Robles – If you want to enjoy wine with your dog by your side, Paso Robles, California is the place for you. Paso Robles is located in Central California between San Francisco and Los Angeles, a short drive from both. Red wine is the main style, and the star is Cabernet Sauvignon. However, with a warm climate and fertile soil, they can grow a variety of grape varieties. The region is also known for its red and white Rhone wine styles. So there is a wine for all tastes. Being so far south, the wines are mostly fruit-based, but balanced by the acidity of the cool, foggy nights.
We spent four days exploring the area with our dog Merci. We found it to be a more relaxed environment than popular Napa Valley, where dogs are rarely allowed in wineries. Paso Robles offers several dog-friendly wineries with patios and fountains. In many wineries, we were greeted by vineyard dogs. A group of winemakers got together to create an informative website about the region and thought enough to list some of the dog-friendly wineries in the area. Visiting Sculpterra Winery In Paso Robles With Kids
Winemaker Tom Myers has been making wine for Castoro since the 1990s. He helped grow production from a few barrels to 40,000 cases a year for friends and family on more than 1,400 acres of vineyards. Their signature wine is Zinfandel, but they have a large variety to suit every palate.
The tasting room looks formal at first glance, but once you get to the counter, the friendly staff makes wine tasting easy and fun. You can bring a picnic or buy snacks from the gift shop to enjoy. There are numerous terraces on the grounds for relaxing with your dog. They also organize concerts and events on site. Don’t forget to visit a disc golf course in one of its vineyards.

Hunt Cellars began when the Hunt family purchased a 550-acre farm in 1996 and opened their tasting room in 1999. One of the most surprising parts of the Hunt Cellar story is winemaker David Hunt. He lost his sight when he was 30 years old. David was already blind when they bought the farm, but he didn’t let that stop him. He believes his other senses are enhanced to compensate, helping him create beautiful wines. Hunt Cellars wines receive numerous awards, especially for their Cabernet Sauvignon and Tawny Port. Other wines include Syrah, Merlot, Zinfandel, Sangiovese, Malbec and Sauvignon Blanc. Their wines age longer than most wineries. David releases the wine only when he thinks they are ready to drink.

Hunt Cellars was our favorite tasting during our time in Paso Robles. Dogs are allowed in the main tasting room and every canine friend is greeted with treats and water at the tasting counter. The staff was excited to share wines and custom taste based on customers’ personal preferences. We were able to taste multiple vintages of the same wine, showing how weather patterns and bottle aging affect the wine’s flavor each year. The streams are small but allow you to sample a wide range of wines. We tasted 22 wines when we left. That’s amazing!
Justin Winery was developed in 1981 to grow and sell grapes from 160 hectares of vineyards. In 1987, he started picking grapes for the Justine brand. Justin specializes in blending Bordeaux-style red wines, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot. They are known for their flagship wines ISOSCELES and JUSTIFICATION. In 2000, ISOSCELES was named one of the 10 best wines in the world by Vine Spectator magazine. Other varieties are available. Tempranillo, Malbec, Zinfandel, Cab Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah make reds, and Viognier, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc make whites.
Just a short drive from Paso Robles, Justin Winery is nestled in rolling hills, winding roads and lots of greenery. This is a prestigious winery, but be prepared to taste more expensive wines. We recommend sitting on the charming patio surrounded by a view of the vineyard. It’s a great place to bring your dog and enjoy a glass of wine. You may also have the opportunity to meet the winery’s dog, a friendly yellow labrador.

Paso Robles Wineries Reopen For Visitors
Robert Hall was an entrepreneur in various businesses, from owning a bowling alley to a travel agency. When he was 70, he traveled to the south of France and discovered his love for wine. Robert Hall Winery was founded in 1995, and released its first wine in 2001. This was one of the wineries that helped put Paso Robles on the map. At over 19,000 square meters, the underground cave is the largest on the Central Coast. The legs are designed to withstand an 8.5 earthquake, so don’t worry, the wine barrels are safe. Robert Hall wines are delicious and made in the Rhône style. Winemaker Don Brady has worked with Robert Hall since 2001. Robert Hall’s wines have won many awards, but their main competitors are Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Robert Hall is a great place to hang out with your dog. You can have a glass of wine outside and play a variety of lawn games such as giant chess, Jenga and match four on the patio. Dogs are also welcome at the tasting counter and will be provided with a water bowl.

Sculpterra began in 1979 with the Frankel family planting 20 hectares of pistachios and 20 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon. After the success of Cabernet, the Frankels decided in 1997 to expand the vineyard with Zinfandel and Merlot. In 2007, he opened a tasting room. They are known for their Cabernet Sauvignon and Mourvedre wines, but have a wide selection of wines including Viognier, Pinot Noir, Primitivo, Cabernet Franc and Petite Sirah.

Sculpterra is a cross between an art museum and a winery. Next Robert C. Complex ironwork made by Bentley, the resident blacksmith. His work can be found throughout the winery, including the chandelier in the tasting room. There is an outdoor sculpture park featuring artist John Jagger, a professional sculptor. Take a tour to see his work of huge bronze and granite sculptures of various animals. Numerous artists are on display in the tasting room and on the grounds. Take your dog for a nice walk and look at the art. A beautiful outdoor patio and tables are scattered throughout the property for you to hang out with your pup and enjoy the surroundings.

Tin City is an industrial park with wineries, breweries and restaurants. These shops are close to air conditioning suppliers and auto body shops. It’s about 15 minutes south of Paso Robles, which makes it easy to grab an Uber and not worry about driving after a few tastings. Spend at least one afternoon in Tin City, as there are more than 20 places to visit. We recommend a full day if you plan to bring your dog. Dogs are welcome in many of the tasting rooms, and there’s often a winery dog to play with. There are plenty of places to hang out with your dog on dog-friendly patios and eat at nearby restaurants or food trucks.
