Pet Friendly Lodging Zion Ut – Warm weather is upon us and what does that mean… road trips? You like to walk dogs like us. Last September we took our two pups, Newton and Maya, on an amazing hike. I thought I’d do a little blog series about our experiences (here’s part 2); I hope I’ve given you some helpful tips if you’re traveling with your dogs.
Utah has 2 main factors to consider: (1) climate + (2) population. Be aware of this as it gets busy in the warmer months as it is a major tourist destination. It also happens to be HAWT in the summer. This is not ideal for you or your pup. I decided to go in mid-September and succeeded. June There are traffic jams until July or August. It’s still hot at times, but not as hot as summer. Can we do it in October? Probably. But I don’t want it to be too cold, So, this trip is in late September. It’s a great deal to do in early October.

So, are you ready to travel with your dog? Maybe you’ve done this before (KUDOS to you!) but this is your first long-term trip and you’re probably a little nervous. Here is a little information that I hope will help you prepare. First, make a list of what your dog needs for the day…
Dog Friendly Utah Road Trip
Anything else they can use on a daily basis or help them feel more comfortable outdoors.

Now, where should the good stuff go? ok It was really difficult for us to choose a destination. If you’ve explored the state of Utah, you know that there are beautiful parks and landscapes throughout the state. To the east, you’ll want to see the Arches and Canyonlands of Moab, but visit Zion National Park and see the amazing canyons in the southwest/southern desert. Utah has so much to offer, and if you’re traveling from either side of the country, you’re already far enough away to take it all in at once. [PS: We also couldn’t fit in Arizona’s nearby Umenta Valley; So it’s easy to add a day or two, but unfortunately…next time!]
I decided to do a week-long trip (5 nights and 6 days) to see exactly as much as possible. Planning such an extensive trip can be overwhelming, but the research, Planning With a little (actually a lot) of excitement and motivation, you can. I hope this blog helps you with your planning. We broke it down.
Where To Stay In Zion National Park
Denver, Colorado being home is our beginning. Moab and Zion were over 4 hours apart on our trip, but we wanted to go across the state. Zion is the longest (9.5+ hours) and there are some big valleys on the way back from Zion to Moab, so it makes sense to do Zion first. We started our week-long road trip in Utah, just 35 minutes from Zion. After that, I stayed in Moab for 2 nights. On the way to Moab, we stopped at Kanab, a desert town with dog-friendly canyons. The tour includes Lake Powell; Arizona (amazing and definitely a must for our next adventures). We ended up in Moab and stayed a total of 3 nights for the rest of the trip. It was an easy + beautiful 5 hour drive home at the end of the vacation. In general, I think our schedule is perfect for what we do. where do you come from, How much time do you have? Adjust depending on what you want to see the most. add remove And you will want to plan. (If the time is right, I recommend visiting Moab all the time). After a 9.5 hour drive from Denver to Hurricane, about an hour from Zion National Park, we arrived at the most unique A-frame cabin in Utah. Check out the views here. Day 1 was tough because we were tired and wanted to enjoy the amazing views from our Airbnb. Although it is a small town, go to the main street cafe for good food.
Tuveley is only 50 minutes away from a completely unexpected (for us) unplanned natural wonder… Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park! Excited and didn’t know about this park until it was so close, we went there. Boy oh boy was it worth it… I had never seen pink sand before and this place was amazing. In addition, As a state park, It is dog friendly which was the best part for us. In addition, Because it’s not really popular. You don’t have to fight all the hype. Coral Pink Sands is located in Kane County south and west of US Highway 89 between Carmel Junction and Kanab.
Day 2: 35 minutes drive to Zion National Park. Zion, like all national parks, restricts dogs in the park. Unlike other national parks, This park has 1 dog-friendly trail called the Parus Trail. Pawrus is a roughly 3.4 mile (out and out) paved trail with great views all around and dogs are allowed. This is the only way for animals in the park. In addition to the Peacock Trail; Driving with your kids along Route 9 (Zion-Mt Carmel Hwy) allows you to enjoy the park and take in the views at various viewpoints. Unfortunately, Private vehicles are not allowed on the Zion Canyon Scenic Byway, which is reserved for shuttle buses only during tourist season. You can also do Bryce Canyon within an hour from Zion at the same time. We had lunch in the beautiful little town of Springdale just outside of Zion. We ate at Cafe Soleil, which is dog-friendly and has delicious sandwiches. behind the scenes Spreaddale is perfect for us because you can leave your pooch at the hotel/airport on the day you want to hike to dog-friendly Zion. Like the famous Angel’s Landing. Springdale is minutes from the park and minutes from great restaurants.
Plan Your Trip To Zion National Park
On the 3rd day, Kanab was greeted by a storm. They headed to Pothole Canyons in Utah and then to the land of Moab. A special canyon (after much research) is the rope cut at Buckskin Gulch. This trip was perfect for us because it was (1) dog friendly and (2) Arizona’s most famous canyons like the famous Big Wave. on the journey). Fair warning: getting started with wiring isn’t easy. No very rough terrain and 4WD required. You should also make sure that there is no rain in the forecast. This is no joke – this area is prone to dangerous flooding and you don’t want to be in this area when it’s flooding. So don’t forget to plan for a dry day. But the gain is worth it. initial path
