The main attraction in DeSoto State Park is DeSoto Falls, 104 meters high. It is truly a sight to behold! Drive about 12 miles along the park’s scenic drive and you’ll arrive at Little River Kenya National Preserve. Little River Canyon is over 15,000 acres of federally owned and managed land. Pet-friendly hikes range from scenic drives to backpacking. You can cool off with your dog in a natural swimming hole called a “hippie hole.”

Things To Do With Your Dog
Bankhead National Forest is located in northwestern Alabama near the small town of Double Springs. Bankhead is a hot spot for hiking, hunting, kayaking, swimming and horseback riding. The Sipsey River flows through Bankhead Forest and offers a wide variety of wildlife, waterfalls, streams and limestone cliffs. You can walk marked and unmarked paths in the forest with your cute friend, just be careful it’s easy to get lost! The Borden Creek Trail is one of our best marked trails.
Bankhead Forest is a place where you always want to be prepared with extra food, water and proper gear. There is limited cell service, so be sure to download a map of your route ahead of time and warn someone that you plan to hike to a specific part of the forest.

Finally, seek adventure and solitude at Alabama’s highest point in Chihua State Park. At 2,407 feet above sea level, Chiha State Park sits atop Chiha Mountain. The views from the Calroutes and Kinselroutes routes are spectacular.
