Some incredibly nice people let us house-sit for a week, and it was just what the vet ordered: rest, rest, no travel – mom’s vacation in reverse!

By the way, Florida is my speed: plenty of room to run around, no rules, no birds to taunt me, no guests to babysit—just me and the sand (and okay, a few thousand birds to scare).

We were there in the middle of November which can be cold at times. In the morning it was too cold and windy to walk outside, I did my favorite thing at home: sleeping.

Paddleboards (I just let my parents borrow them) come down with us and spend the afternoon on these gentle waters. I think the water here is even calmer than my lake in Tennessee.

Mom promises to close social networks for a week – a big failure; Speaking of which (shameless plug!) are you following my new Instagram, @BustedPuppy?! — and dad planned to read a lot of books. None of that happened, but I made sure they were focused on the important issue and that was it.

In fact, Florida beaches are my natural camouflage – who knew? (Well, I wish I had been brought to this magical place on the Gulf Coast sooner! Gorumph.)

Our trip was very quick. Before I knew it, we packed up the Jeep and headed to Orlando on Universal Vacations.

This area is beautiful all year round, but in the summer and fall, this area shines for dog lovers because Bostonians know how to appreciate the sun.

A sense of patriotism? Jane’s Lane on Boston Common, which has an off-leash park. Nearby, walkers can visit other historic sites, such as Acorn Street in Acorn Hill, one of the most photographed streets in the United States, or the Community Garden, home to the Mrs. Mallard Bird Sculpture Trail, which leads family bird
