Whether you’re a dog owner in New York City or visiting with your pooch, these 20 dog-friendly places in NYC will give you plenty to enjoy together in the city. New York is a dog-friendly city, and you’ll find dogs in every aspect of life—from shops to restaurants. As a New Yorker I am often disappointed when I travel with my dog that many cities do not allow dogs in places like NYC. Here’s my list of dog friendly places in NYC, mostly vetted by my Akita owner Kiyoshi.

According to the New York Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC), New York City is the largest city in the United States with 1.1 million pets, including 600,000 dogs. With so many friends and small apartments, dogs need to go outside, and there are many dog-friendly places in NYC. You can take your dog anywhere from Central Park to brunch on the Upper East Side, and with Uber’s pet option, it’s easy to get around town with your dog.

Although New York is very dog-friendly, with millions of people and 600,000 dogs, and many dogs and people in confined spaces, it’s important for everyone to follow the rules for safety.

All dogs need time and space to stretch out on grass, especially in a busy city like New York Although the Big Apple is mostly concrete, there are plenty of parks and dog parks for your furry friend to break through the concrete jungle. I include dog friendly parks in Manhattan and Brooklyn, as well as some large and small dog friendly parks. I also have to say that my dog is not a dog parker because he has never tried a dog park. The dog parks I recommend have reasonable and high-quality facilities, and I’ve taken dogs to many of them when I was walking my dog in Manhattan. Central Park is the most famous and located in Manhattan Central Park offers 843 acres of nature in Manhattan’s 84th district, from 59th Street to 110th Street, Midtown Manhattan, the Upper East Side, the Upper West Side, and Harlem.
Parks are a great place to walk your dog, relax, have a picnic, go sightseeing or catch up with friends. If your child is more active, the park’s trails include a 6.1-mile (about 10K) walk or walk, and a gentle, dirt trail called the Bridle Path Loop, which branches off from the 2.5-mile Bridle Path main loop. Central Park is one of the few NYC parks where dogs are allowed off-leash in designated areas in the morning and at night. My dog, Akita, is very independent minded and has a high drive (he’s got two mice now, damn!), so I don’t put him in an open area. Also, remember that even if your dog is friendly, there may be other dogs at the park who do not want dogs running towards them and may respond to aggression.

Prospect Park is the most popular dog park in Brooklyn The 526-acre park was created by the masterminds behind Central Park, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, and features many beautiful structures and open spaces, serene lakes, walking trails, and 3.3 miles of walking, walking, and hiking trails. . Serious Dog Run is a dog run in Manhattan’s beautiful Battery Park City, on the southern tip of Manhattan, near Liberty Street and the Battery Park Esplanade. The Asphalt Dog Run features plenty of seating for dog owners, a dog fountain, a hose to clean up after the run, and a pool in warmer months. Sirius Dog Run is named after a rescue facility that gave lives on 9/11
Speaking of 9/11, if you want to walk your dog, go a few blocks west to the World Trade Center. Dogs are not allowed inside but you can see the amazing and beautiful World Trade Center mural project at Oculus Plaza. It’s a great place to take photos and videos with your dog to celebrate the day

In my opinion, Brooklyn Bridge Park is the most beautiful park in NYC You can soak up spectacular views of the Brooklyn waterfront and Manhattan Bridge and downtown Manhattan at this well-kept park in Dumbo, Brooklyn. Dumbo has plenty of walking, running and biking along the beach that is dog-friendly and dog-friendly. Make sure you stay out of the bike lane I recommend walking along the waterfront on the pier for the best view From the pole, you can also see the Manhattan skyline including the Statue of Liberty
Some grassy areas of Brooklyn Bridge Park have signs saying dogs are not allowed, but don’t worry—in addition to dog-friendly walks, the park has two dog parks. The Main Street Dog Run is located at Adams and Plymouth Streets near the Brooklyn Bridge across from Park. Pier 6 is located across from Dog Run Park between Bridge Park Drive and Furman Street. Madison Square Park offers a dog-friendly place to play behind Manhattan’s famous Flatiron Building. Jamie’s Dog Ron, W of Madison Square Park Located at the South 25th Street entrance, it offers a bar-within-a-bar for kids to play and relax, with special areas for large and small dogs, sprinklers and seats.
